There are probably two different groups who will discover this page.

There are the traditional Mister & Me fans who have seen the comic grow from its infancy to where it is today, and those who are discovering it for the first time. Needless to say: Both groups are not only welcome, but I’m excited that you’re here.

If you happen to be in the first group, one of the Mister & Me fans from the get go, you may have a bit of a furled brow wondering what exactly this new site is for. And you may be wondering if this new site is going to take over the Mister & Me site that we’ve grown with all these years? Have the adventures of Newell and his Dad over as we know them?

Short answer: No.

But let me back track a little bit for you.

Last October/November my literary agent and I were developing a young reader/middle grade book featuring our heroes, Newell and his father. Featuring characters that have already been established to a company of fans who already know and love them. There were different drafts of the book. Different chapters with a healthy balance of prose and illustration to make it fun and inviting. As time went on though we kept on hearing the same things over and over. That while the father & son aspect is nice and fun. It doesn’t fit too well for young readers/middle grade audiences. They are looking for something to read where the parent is as involved, and where the character is their own age, if not older.

So then came a question.

Would I be willing to age Newell up a little bit to be more appealing to an older audience?

Absolutely.

And would I be interested in doing a full on graphic story as oppose to a mixture of prose and illustration?

You bet.

The only problem with doing it full on graphic is the time. Writing prose along with adding an illustration to it doesn’t even take half of the time it does to plan out and draw out different panels. So, since early January 2016 I started developing Mister’s Talent Show as a full graphic novel experience. And I’m very pleased with how it’s going.

The only thing, and this is where you come in, is that while working on the new project, it has undoubtedly taken time away from doing the comic Mister & Me that I’ve been working on at the same time. There have been a few people who have been privy to know and see what has been going on. And it’s been a few months that I’ve been toying with the idea of sharing the experience with you.

The reasons are simple. At this stage, with working on the comic, and working on any freelance assignments that come my way, there have been times that it’s been hard to get to the graphic novel. And there’s something special about sharing a project with all of you as it’s progressing. As a theatrical performer I know how important it is to have a live audience in front of you. You can practice for a show over and over, and you might be spectacular, but you never really know until you finally present it for an audience. And like I’ve said on more than one occasion: If there wasn’t an opening night of a show, a show would never open.

But to answer your question: Will this replace the comic Mister & Me as we know it? Of course not. But that is why Mister’s Talent Show is on it’s own separate site. As to not confuse the two.

And while the comic, Mister & Me does have some short story lines that run together, Mister’s Talent show is one that will be consistent from the beginning. So I encourage you to subscribe to it, to follow the story as it unfolds.

So thank you, my dear fans.

You are my audience.

I hope you enjoy the show.
